• Contains one strand of nucleic acids.Less stable then DNA.
• Used primarily for protein synthesis messenger RNA carries information from DNA to ribosomes translation RNA.
• RNA synthesis was discovered by Severo Ochoa of Spain, for which he won the Nobel prize in physiology or medicine in 1959
