The Brahmo Samaj
religion is social instruction.
It is established by Raja
Ram Mohan Roy on 20 August 1828 in Calcutta present Kolkata West Bengal.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy is the father of Indian social reform
movement.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy is the great intellectual belongs to West
Bengal.
He fight against Sathi which means firing of women (wife) lively
when with her husband funeral or death.
Widow re marriages, Child marriages, Women education fight
against blind faith in Hindu religions.
He is qualified lot of degree from Cambridge in London and
left he studies he studied Vedas and Puranas, Christian bibles and Quran of
Muslims.
Hence, he thought to change Hindu community by working with
Brahmo Samaj
Brahmo Samaj is a
social organisation to change the society to make to equality between the
people.

Objectives of Brahmo Samaj
Opposing in the ideal worship.
Opposing in the all the blind faiths.
Sati opposing elimination of Sati. Encouraged widow remarriage.
Social work Social Reformer moments.
Women education creating awareness on society and Individual.
To change in the society socio, Economical, Educational
cultural and religious etc.
Achievements of Brahma Samaj
Raja Ram Mohan Roy to Brahmo achieve a lot of in social
reform movements by taking social action to make social changes by legislation
in 1882, British general governor “William Bentinck” pass this roll against
Sati it is implemented in 1883, Women education center’s started women empowered
activities are gained.
Eshwar Chandra Vidya Sagar (1820 - 1867)
E. C. V. S was a
great social reformer and event socialist.He was very poor to educate himself.
Worked as a teacher and lead a Principal Government Sanskrit
college in West Bengal.
He established many School to promote the education.
He worked in women
and her development.
Objectives and achievements:
He supported widow marriages he fight against polygamy on
children marriage.
A first
widow remarriage celebrated on December 7th 1865 in Calcutta West
Bengal.
Himself married a widow and also did marriage to his son a widow.
He succeeded in getting widow marriage act 1856.
He worked for poor for his lifetime.
Keshav Chandra Sen 1838 -1884
He is Brahma Samaji
belongs to West Bengal. He joined in November 11th 1866 at age of 28 in to Brahmo Samaj. He was great Brahmo Samaj worker and a social reformer.
Achievements and Attitudes:
He stresses the
Spiritual efficiency.He started Indian
Reform association for the social and moral information of India.He worked for female improvement and education
to all worked on illiterate and development charity to temperance (abstinence from alcoholic drink) attitude
to build in the society.
Govinda Ranade prathana Samaj (1842 - 1903)
Mahadev Govind Ranade was born in Maharashtra in 1842.
He worked as professor as a English, history, subjects in Mumbai and also worked
as a judge in Bombay High Court in 1871. In 1884 he established a Mumbai
Education Society. He is a political Guru, and he called as philosopher, Historian,
Spiritual father. He started modification in cash system and worked for women
development , fought for equality to all.
MK Gandhi Sarvodaya Movement in (1869 - 1948)
He was inspire teacher and fought against rationalism, Imperialism, Communism, especially untouchability status of women, worked for
Cooperative movement, self movement (1930 to 1931), Quit India Movement and
worked for Indian Independence movement.
Swami Vivekananda (1863 - 1902)
Swami Vivekananda belongs to
Bengal. The world known him as a "Gigantic" mind who employed on his will power
and energy to brain about regeneration of India. He is a sociologist, philosopher, religious Guru. He established R.K. Mission in the 1896. He worked for
against child marriage and caste system.
Dr BR Ambedkar - Dalit movement (1891- 1956)
Ambedkar was born in Maharashtra. He belongs to "SC Mahar" community, he is a great political leader
social reformer, professor, economist. He stressed for equality who opposed the
blind faith in religions Hindus, and his entire life devoted to untouchable
for their development and for their rights etc. He established "All India depressed
classes Federation". He had written Indian constituency stressed the social,
economic, education cultural development of untouchables depressed classes to
become equal with main stream in 1920 he started "Self respect movement".
Jyoti Rao Phule (1827 - 1890)
Mahatma Jyoti Rao phule belongs to Maharashtra he worked on depressed
classes (BC) to work on untouchability against Brahmanism, women education, widow
education. He established "Satya Sodaka Samaj" in 1873, Deenabandhu Sarvojana Sabha
in 1884. In 1854 Phule established 1st school for SC community.Started a home
for widows and their children. He also written Sarvangini Sath drama by the Gulamgiri.
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan
A lot of reformed
by Muslim religion Sir Syed Ahmed Khan 1876. Ahmed Khan established in Oriental
College later the college become as Alighar Muslim University in Delhi.
Mr. Khan giving on modern vocational training will empower the Muslim India
opposed the purpose systems, Dowry and bigamy social.
